  Enterprise deployment of the ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Engine licenses

<p id="GUID-53EF4D35-2B40-4C5B-A0DE-0530EFFFFA4C">Both concurrent use and single use versions of the <span purpose="ph" varid="ArcGISforDesktop">ArcGIS Desktop</span> and ArcGIS Engine software can be deployed in an enterprise environment by setting up license managers that can host concurrent use and enterprise single use licenses.</p><p id="GUID-08929581-F487-404A-9B9F-A9A73CF14173">
 The following examples describe how <span purpose="ph" varid="ArcGISforDesktop">ArcGIS Desktop</span> and ArcGIS Engine licenses can be deployed:

Enterprise A has purchased 10,000 concurrent use <span purpose="ph" varid="ArcGISforDesktopAdvanced">ArcGIS Desktop Advanced</span> licenses
and needs to divide the licenses among three separate license
managers for use in three different departments.</p><p id="GUID-E6210D14-B297-42CD-8659-A937DEFBEE7E">
<ol purpose="ol" id="OL_1170291E01D84929BB0528C3B196375A">
<li purpose="li" id="LI_824EC252038845289055B48416A51968"> All 10,000 licenses
need to be authorized on license manager 1. See <a class="xref" href="007900000005000000.htm" rel="007900000005000000.htm">License Manager installation and startup</a> for details on this process.</li>
<li purpose="li" id="LI_C69E2CCF010C4E5FBA779DCAB9202CB7"> Install the License Manager
software on machines 2 and 3. <a class="xref" href="00790000002p000000.htm" rel="00790000002p000000.htm">Transfer</a> the required number of
licenses to these license managers. </li>
<li purpose="li" id="LI_65C8214F1DF84B518D7F902E5BCF954D"> Install the ArcGIS
software on client machines and point the machines to the required
license manager. <div class="notes" id="GUID-774AA241-3AA9-4FEC-BAFA-2CB1D6BBC808"><div class="note"><img class="note_img" src="rsrc/note.png" alt="Note" title="Note"><span>Note:</span></div><div class="tipbody"><p id="GUID-888EA008-8C7D-4A7E-B66F-885D9BC9C73D">Alternatively, the three separate License Managers noted in steps 1 and 2, can be authorized directly from Esri Customer Service with the requisite number of licenses, removing the need to transfer.  Transfer of licenses to 'child' License Managers is most helpful in situations where a firewall needs to be opened to allow authorization of a primary License Manager.</p></div></div></li>
</ol>
</p><p id="GUID-43C831B9-7E84-44B9-9AC1-DD5E43836574"><b>B. Single use</b></p><p id="GUID-0E80A906-6317-4B5F-BEE9-C5FFC40AE561">Enterprise B has purchased 10,000 enterprise single use <span purpose="ph" varid="ArcGISforDesktopAdvanced">ArcGIS Desktop Advanced</span> licenses and
needs to authorize end-user machines from within the organization instead of authorizing each end-user machine with Esri Customer Service.</p><p id="GUID-45D78124-5184-43D5-A702-056B1DB154D4">

need to be authorized on a license manager. See <a class="xref" href="007900000005000000.htm" rel="007900000005000000.htm">License Manager installation and startup</a> for details on this process.</li>
<li purpose="li" id="LI_5B1E6812C5C24C289600DF014DCEC7FE"> Install the ArcGIS
software on the individual end-user machines and authorize the software from
the license manager setup in step 1:<ul purpose="ul" id="UL_755AC68153604C9A813EE6425C61659C"><li purpose="li" id="LI_5A27E5434E1F48909B39D770091DDC9F"><b>Authorizing end-user machines using a provisioning file</b>  <p id="GUID-5724FD95-BE82-415F-A482-54C14417C909">A provisioning file allows a license administrator to quickly authorize the ArcGIS software on end-user machines.  See  <a class="xref" href="00790000002s000000.htm" rel="00790000002s000000.htm">Provisioning files</a> for help on creating and using provisioning files.</p></li></ul><ul purpose="ul" id="UL_CC93921DD557416D8623FC01EC27E2B7"><li purpose="li" id="LI_7FD94AE626BA496183F2EEFF58D48D26"><b>Authorizing end-user machines manually</b><ol purpose="ol" id="OL_3AE5881D80D846ECA6E08F53B6652356"><li purpose="li" id="LI_5DFA9BA204984C1E894FD853D4DE3155">On the ArcGIS Administrator Wizard dialog box that appears immediately after the installation, select the appropriate single use product and click the <span class="uicontrol">Authorize Now</span> button.  If you want to run the authorization at a later time, go to <span class="uicontrol">Start &gt; Programs &gt; ArcGIS &gt; ArcGIS Administrator</span>.  Choose the product you want to authorize from the table of contents, choose the appropriate single use product, then click <span class="uicontrol">Authorize Now</span>.</li><li purpose="li" id="LI_DCDA00A4F9824DFFB11D4EBEDBE3623C">Choose the default option <span class="uicontrol">I have installed my software and need to authorize it</span>.</li><li purpose="li" id="LI_79C3825F94ED48A8B0362D5BA24DCAD4">On the next dialog box, choose the option <span class="uicontrol">Authorize your software from a local license server</span>.</li><li purpose="li" id="LI_3E187319DC3D43D6A0899DC4B00881F4">Specify a license server.</li><li purpose="li" id="LI_C5746BF179D04D2D946240C0D039B202">Enter the authorization number for the core product.  This is the same authorization number (EEAxxxxxxxxx) you used when authorizing the licenses on License Manager.</li><li purpose="li" id="LI_44E2CA9984A445D8A8E8A7B5D251B570">Enter authorization numbers for any extensions that you want to authorize on that machine and complete the authorization process.</li></ol></li></ul></li>
</ol>
</p><p id="GUID-F3FEDAE7-FC3B-46E7-AEAC-9D175FEC4036"><div class="notes" id="GUID-E98636A1-8EA2-4CC3-A861-665D2320480F"><div class="note"><img class="note_img" src="rsrc/note.png" alt="Note" title="Note"><span>Note:</span></div><div class="tipbody"><p id="GUID-08A4FE35-726C-4591-A64C-2E1E91011426">When deauthorizing or upgrading concurrent use licenses from a child License Manager or enterprise single use licenses from a client or child License Manager, back to Esri Customer Service, the chain of events must be reversed.  For example, Client A received it's enterprise single use authorization from child License Manager X, which in turn had received it's set of licenses through a transfer from parent License Manager Y. To deauthorize client A to customer service, the licenses must first be deauthorized to License Manager X, at which point, License Manager X will then deauthorize to License Manager Y, and finally License Manager Y will deauthorize to Esri Customer Service.</p></div></div></p></div>
