RESUME_MASTOROKOSTAS=<p>Paris A. Mastorocostas was born in Thessaloniki, Greece on January 1, 1971. He holds a diploma degree with highest honors in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (having been honored by the National Fellowship for excellence in each academic year and having been awarded once the prize of the Technical Chamber of Greece).</p><p>In 1994 he started his doctoral studies in the area of computational intelligence and algorithm design in Aristotle University, having been awarded a three-year full scholarship by the university. From September 1996 till February 1999, in parallel with his doctoral studies, he worked as scientific associate at the department of Electronics of Thessasloniki Institute of Education & Technology. He obtained the Ph.D. degree in 1999 and afterwards he enlisted in the Hellenic Army, where he specialized in Command, Control and Information Systems.</p><p>From September 2000 till January 2003 he had a dual appointment in Thessaloniki and Serres Institutes of Education and Technology, as Adjunct Assistant Professor. Since January 2003 he works in the Department of Informatics & Communications of Serres Institute of Education and Technology, serving presently as Full Professor and teaching in undergraduate level courses in Procedural Programming, Fuzzy Systems and Algorithms & Data Structures.</p><p>During his eighteen-year career, Dr. Mastorocostas has participated in more than fifteen research projects, having been coordinator in eight of them. Moreover, he has worked as software developer and IT consultant in a series of European and national projects. His research interests include computational intelligence and machine learning with environmental and telecommunications applications, algorithm design and scientific programming.</p><p>His research work includes 20 journal papers, 27 conference papers and 6 chapters in collective volumes. The research papers have attracted more than 450 third-party citations. Additionally, Dr. Mastorocostas has served as reviewer in 15 international scientific journals and 7 international scientific conferences.</p>

RESUME_PAPATSORIS=<p>Dr. Anastasios D. Papatsoris  is Professor of Communications in the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.teiser.gr/icd"> Department of Informatics &amp; Communications</a>  of the Serres Institute of Education &amp; Technology and Head of the Informatics &amp;  Communications Section of the Applied Research Centre of Serres, Greece. He has  established a contemporary communications laboratory in the TEI of Serres  covering both educational and research purposes. He is an <a target="_blank" href="http://www.itu.int/"> International Telecommunications Union (ITU)</a> accredited international expert  on radio spectrum management and monitoring and contributes regularly to  Seminars and Workshops organized by the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.itu.int/"> ITU</a> aimed at delivering expert knowledge and training to telecommunications  regulatory institutions. He is an academic partner to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.inatelecom.org/seta/en/default.html"> INA Academy (SETA)</a> and a research partner to the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.inatelecom.org/"> Southeastern Europe Telecommunications &amp; Informatics Research Institute (INA</a>).  He has seventeen years of professional and academic experience in the field of  Radiocommunications and has authored more than one hundred and fifty technical  reports, textbooks, studies, journal articles and conference papers. He is  currently actively involved in research on the prediction of performance of  wireless communications systems and radio propagation, electromagnetic  compatibility (EMC), the planning and deployment of digital TV (DVB-T) and radio  (DAB) services, in measuring electromagnetic radiation from various sources  including mobile base stations, contributes to public awareness campaigns on the  rational use of mobile telephony and offers consultancy services on radio  spectrum management and monitoring.&nbsp;</p> <p> Professor  Papatsoris holds an Electrical &amp; Computer Engineering degree [1988] by  distinction from the Department of Electrical &amp; Computer Engineering of the  <a target="_blank" href="http://www.upatras.gr/"> University of Patras</a>,  Greece, and a Doctorate in Radiocommunications [1993] from the   <a target="_blank" href="http://www.brad.ac.uk/"> University of Bradford</a>,  UK. He worked as an engineer and researcher [1988-1995] for the   <a target="_blank" href="http://www.med.upatras.gr/"> University Hospital of Patras</a>  (electronic communications, database design &amp; administration),   <a target="_blank" href="http://www.esa.int/"> European Space Agency</a>  (radiowave propagation, satellite communications),    <a target="_blank" href="http://www.bt.co.uk/"> British Telecom</a>  (broadband fixed wireless communications),   <a target="_blank" href="http://www.rl.ac.uk/"> Rutherford Apletton Laboratories</a>  (radar space applications, DSP) and the    <a target="_blank" href="http://www.york.ac.uk/"> University of York</a>  (radar design, radiowave propagation, spectrum management and high-altitute  platforms).&nbsp;</p> <p> Professor  Papatsoris was a Lecturer in the   <a target="_blank" href="http://www.elec.york.ac.uk/"> Department of Electronics</a>  of York University, UK for six years [1995-2000]. During this period he taught  several courses in the field of Communications, Electromagnetics and Radio  Spectrum Management at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He also managed  several research and industrial projects (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.baesystems.com/">British  Aerospace</a>,  <a target="_blank" href="http://www.esa.int/"> European Space Agency</a>,  <a target="_blank" href="http://www.rl.ac.uk/"> Rutherford Apletton Laboratories</a>,  <a target="_blank" href="http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/"> EPSRC</a>)  related to the development and utilization of new radio communication systems  and applications and offered consultancy work to the   <a target="_blank" href="http://www.radio.gov.uk/"> British Radiocommunications Agency</a>  through  <a target="_blank" href="http://www.yorkemc.co.uk/"> York EMC Services Ltd.</a>  on radio spectrum management and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) issues.&nbsp;</p> <p> In 2000 he  joined the Greek  <a target="_blank" href="http://www.eett.gr/"> National Telecommunications &amp; Post Commission</a>  as an expert in satellite communications &amp; radio spectrum management (frequency  assignment, national &amp; international co-ordination of services, interference  studies, spectrum pricing). He was responsible for Fixed Wireless Access (FWA)  and 3G Mobile Telephony licensing in Greece, developing the license technical  requirements, designing and implementing the licensing mechanism (auction) and  leading the corresponding promotion campaigns. The auctions allocated radio  spectrum successfully and raised an income of more than 600 million Euros for  the Greek Government. In 2002 became the Director of Radio Spectrum Management &amp;  Monitoring Directorate. During his term of service the foundation for spectrum  management and radio monitoring plan for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games was set,  while at the same time the National Integrated Spectrum Management and Radio  Monitoring System was procured.

RESUME_ANASTASIOU=<p>Hristos T. Anastassiu was born in Edessa, Greece on July 11, 1966. He received his basic education in Thessaloniki (Elementary School: 1972-1978, Secondary School: 1978-1981, High School: 1981-1984). After scoring excellent grades in the Panhellenic Examinations, he enrolled in the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1984. During his undergraduate studies he was consistently within the top 2% of his class, being honored by the National Fellowship for excellence in each academic year.  He completed a Diploma Thesis, supervised by Prof. Epaminondas. E. Kriezis and graduated in 1989 with Grade Point Average 9/10, third in his 120-student class, having been awarded twice the prize of the Technical Chamber of Greece.</p><p>In 1989 he enrolled in the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA, where he started his graduate studies as a Graduate Research Assistant at the ElectroScience Laboratory. His Major was Electromagnetics and his Minor was Communications.  He obtained the Master of Science degree, (M.Sc.) in 1992, after completing a thesis supervised by Prof. Prabhakar H. Pathak.</p><p>In 1992 he enrolled in the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA, again as a  Graduate Research Assistant at the Radiation Laboratory, with the same Major and Minor (Electromagnetics and Communications respectively). He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) in 1997, after completing a dissertation supervised by Prof.  John L. Volakis.</p><p>At the University of Michigan he was simultaneously registered in the Mathematics Department, where he obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in 1995.</p><p>He received the second place award at the student paper contest of the 1993 IEEE-AP (Antennas and Propagation) International Symposium held in Ann Arbor, MI.</p><p>In May 1997 he enlisted in the Hellenic Army, at the Artillery Training Center, Theba, Greece. He was transferred to the 193th Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Batallion at Eleftheroupolis, Greece. He completed his military service in May 1998.</p><p>From February 1999 to March 2002 he was a Junior Research Scientist at the Institute of Communications and Computer Systems (ICCS) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. He was promoted to a Senior Research Scientist in 2002, a position he held until May 2004. From June 2004 to March 2011 he was affiliated with the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI), Electronics Engineering Directorate. In September 2005 he was also elected as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Hellenic Air Force Academy, where he taught Electromagnetics and Communications courses until 2010, in parallel with his work at HAI. RESUME_KALOMOIROS=<p>John A. Kalomiros received the degree of Physics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Masters degree in Electronics. His first doctoral thesis is on the characterization of materials for micro-electronic devices. His second PhD thesis is on new techniques for the localization of autonomous vehicles for real-time robotic applications. </p><p>He is currently Assistant Professor at the Technological and Educational Institute of Serres, Greece, Department of Informatics and Communications. He teaches Analog and Digital Electronics, Embedded Systems and related subjects. His research interests include microcontrollers, machine vision and digital systems design with applications in Robotics. He is also working on systems for digital measurements and instrumentation.</p><p>He has collaborated with a number of research Institutes, like the Institute fur Angewandte Physik in Karlsruhe, Germany (1988-1989) and the Berliner Elektronenspeicherring-Gesellschaft fur Synchrotronstrahlung m.b.Hin Berlin, Germany (1994-1998). He has also worked with corporations like System Level Solutions for the development and testing of digital Intellectual Property processing cores (2005-2007). He has participated in many research projects as project coordinator or as a member of the research team.</p><p>He has co-authored many publications in international scientific journals and in international or national conference proceedings. He has co-authored two books (Tziolas Editions) on microcontrollers and digital measurements and instrumentation. Also, he has written several tutorial notes. His publications address research topics in solid-state microelectronics and digital circuits and systems with emphasis on machine vision systems. He is a reviewer and editor in International Journals and Conferences and has attracted many citations.</p><p>From 1994 until 2007 he taught Computer Architecture and Electronics in the secondary technological education, Section of Computer Systems and Networks. During the years 2000-2005 he counseled the Greek Ministry of Education on issues of technological education.</p> <p>Dr. Kalomiros is married with two children and lives in Serres.</p>

RESUME_GEORGIADIS=<p>Dr Apostolos Georgiadis completed his studies at the Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics, University of Patras, Greece, in 1995 with honors (87%). He then completed a six- month research contract with the Group of Machine Imaging and Intelligence (MI2) at the Univer- sity of Leuven, Belgium, funded by the Greek State Scholarships Institute. He then continued with his doctoral research studies at the University of Edinburgh, UK, with the Department of Elec- tronics and Electrical Engineering – Signals and Systems Group, where he studied the problem of non-linear equalisation of telecommunication channel in impulsive noise environments. He received the PhD diploma in 2001.</p><p>From 2000 until 2002 he worked as a Research Associate at first and then as a Research Fellow with the Signals and Systems Group, University of Edinburgh, UK. During this period he did post doctoral research, funded by a 1.3 million pounds contract with “LG Electronics Inc”, on advanced design techniques for 3G base-station receivers with interference cancellation. He also investigated the problem of minimum bit-error ratio equalisers in alpha-stable impulsive noise environments.</p><p>Since 2002 he works as a Lecturer at the Department of Telecommunications & Informatics, Technical University of Serres, Greece. In 2004 he won a 12-month post-doctoral scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Institute, in order to investigate advanced channel optimisation tech- niques for 3G receivers. He also did research on Software Defined Radio, and recently he produced some very interesting new research results on the problem of sea bottom classification using two dimensional wavelet coefficient statistics.</p><p>Dr Georgiadis has also been active in the area of professional Software Development, being the Chief Technical Officer and Head of the Research & Development Department at “Megasoft Informatics”, a high-tech software development company. Dr Georgiadis has a long record of exper- ience in the design and development of commercial and scientific software, with a sound back- ground on all edge technologies and platforms (Windows, Unix/Linux, OSX, Windows Mobile, iOS, Android, Java ME, HTML, PHP, ASP.NET etc). He is the author of tens of desktop, web and mobile applications.</p><p>He has authored and co-authored numerous scientific papers, in scientific journals and peer-re- viewed conferences.</p><p>He is a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET, former IEE).</p>
